15 AUGUST 2026 – IMPORTANT UPDATE
In preparation for this upcoming weekend, our volunteers undertook a comprehensive survey of the river conditions. Water levels across the country are very low, and a number of canals and rivers have been subject to restrictions and closures as a result.
We are very disappointed to inform you the very low water levels and rapid weed and reed growth between Rushbanks Campsite and Boxted make the route almost impassable.
Our highest priority is to ensure that S2C remains an enjoyable and safe event for everyone. We have reluctantly decided that it is not possible for this year’s event to go ahead as originally planned.
OPTIONS
• 1-Day Mini S2C: We can run a one-day event ending at Rushbanks Campsite on Saturday, but we need a minimum number of entries to make it happen. View/download revised 1-day craft entry fees.
• Full Cancellation: If you do not want to take part in the 1-day Mini S2C or it doesn’t happen, we can of course arrange a full refund.
We have suspended booking for this event until we know whether a 1-day ‘Mini S2C’ will take place. If you’d like to find out more, please email s2c@riverstourtrust.org
ONGOING PLAN OF ACTION
Proceeds from our activities go towards our charitable aims of restoring and conserving the navigation. We will continue with ongoing efforts to reinstate navigability for year-round use and to revive the full two-day event for 2027.
We will also lobby the Environment Agency, as the Navigation Authority, to address these critical issues and demand more direct, immediate action on maintaining the right of navigation.
