This has certainly been a year like no other and we hope that 2021 will be a happier and healthier year for everyone.
In normal circumstances, our income this year would have been generated through our usual activities such as our trip boats at Sudbury, Flatford and Dedham; weddings and functions at our riverside venues and our community events. Coronavirus meant we had to cancel these and other planned activities which has obviously put our finances under considerable strain.
But the virus has also highlighted the benefit of the river to physical and mental wellbeing. This summer people have flocked to its banks whether to walk beside it, enjoy a picnic, angling or take to the water by canoe, kayak or paddle-board. These are people that might have otherwise holidayed abroad, but have now discovered the jewel on their doorsteps. Something our members and supporters knew already!
This was evident in the ITV Anglia News segment we filmed in September that was subsequently shown again during the national ITV programme ‘All Around Britain’. You can watch this and other videos on our brand new YouTube channel. You do not need your own account or need to provide any details.
