John Constable and the Stour

TUESDAY 21 JULY (3-5:30PM)

THURSDAY 23 JULY (6-8:30PM)

Join us to celebrate the 250th anniversary of one of Britain’s most important landscape artists, John Constable.

To commemorate the Suffolk-born artist we are offering a talk by Sue Whiteley of Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury followed by a cream tea and a trip on the River Stour Trust’s own iconic restored Stour Lighter, the ‘John Constable’.

The Stour Lighter is highlighted in many of John Constable’s famous paintings and Sue will explain how the River Stour and surrounding valley influenced the art of the true British icon.
