Moorings, Storage & Launch Access Policy

[“RST” means the River Stour Trust; “the site” means whichever of The Granary, Quay Lane or the Visitor Education Centre (VEC) and their respective grounds/area where the storage or mooring is located and/or river access granted; “the craft” means the craft or vessel for which the storage, mooring and/or launch access is permitted; “the member” means the person who has contracted with the RST for use of this facility]

  • Craft mooring/storage is available only to a current member of the River Stour Trust. Failure to renew the annual membership subscription is contradictory to the agreed terms.
  • Use of the craft storage and river access facility is provided on an annual basis commencing 1st April each year and expiring on 31st March the following year.
  • The annual charge is for the craft and location as agreed with the RST. It is irrespective of non-use of the facility including removal of the craft for any period.
  • It is not permitted under any circumstances to transfer any mooring or storage space to any third party; or to change the designated location or type of craft without agreement of the RST.
  • Craft moored or stored are for private & pleasure use only – no commercial activities other than those expressly approved by the RST are permitted.
  • The member is responsible for adhering to the ‘Anglian Water Authority, Recreational Waterways (General) Byelaws 1980’; and for all other aspects of craft ownership and/or use of the river including applicable insurance and waterways registration.
  • The member is responsible for upkeep of their craft and must ensure the craft is adequately secured to its designated location.
  • The member will respond promptly to issues or problems and will facilitate moving of their craft should the need arise.
  • Any access keys/codes provided by the RST are solely to permit access to the craft and/or the ability to launch the craft from the RST premises.
  • RST sites must always be left secure. Keys/codes must not, under any circumstances, be provided to third parties.
  • Parking: at The Granary there is public parking adjacent to venue in the Quay Lane Trust car park or the Babergh District Council car park past the Quay Theatre. At the Visitor Education Centre (VEC), you can usually park within the grounds, but parking is prohibited when the venue/site is in use.
  • There will be occasions, such as school visits at the VEC, when access onto the site needs to be controlled and overseen by RST personnel on site.
  • The member and visitors must not do (or carelessly fail to do) anything at the site which will cause damage or nuisance to
  • RST, any other person or their respective property. The member accepts responsibility for any such damage or nuisance caused by themselves or their visitors. All refuse must be removed from the site or placed in the appropriate bins.
  • The RST has the right to terminate use of the facility at any time without reason. Any craft must be removed within 14 days or potentially forfeit ownership of the craft.
  • All users must abide by our ‘Facilities Code of Practice’ regarding use of our structures and land.
  • The RST accepts no responsibility for use of the grounds and reserves the right to alter these Terms and Conditions and charges at any time and without notice.
