River users are requested to report any further hazards that are not listed above via the Environment Agency (EA) Incident Reporting Line anytime on 0800 80 70 60. 

15.05.18 – UPDATE Large fallen tree removed, Wormingford – it has been reported that the EA have removed the tree (as reported 16.04.18- Click here to read notice about intended works.) Click here to read more information on the location of the removed tree.

15.05.18 – UPDATE Fallen trees removed, Nayland – The EA are making arrangements to remove trees at two locations in Nayland. Two trees as reported 16.04.18 (Click here to read the notice.) and another fallen tree downstream of the Nayland Road Tunnel although portage around this obstruction is possible from river left bank (Click here to read the notice). Click here to read more information on the locations of the removed trees.

14.08.18 – Fallen tree, Pitmire – Fallen tree from the Essex side to the Suffolk side, approx. 100m upstream of Daws Hall near Pitmire Lock. Grid reference TL 88846 37106. Click here to read full notice.

31.05.18 – River Flow & Levels – Please be aware that from 31 May until further notice that flows in the River Stour will reduce significantly as the water transfer, via the Ely Ouse to Essex Transfer Scheme (EOETS) is reduced from 85 megalitres per day (Ml/d) to 25 Ml/d (a 55 Ml/d reduction or the equivalent of 22 Olympic sized swimming pools of water less per day). 03.05.18 – UPDATE Large fallen tree, Wormingford – The EA are making arrangements to remove the tree (as reported 16.04.18) and will issue a further notice upon completion of the work. Click here to read the notice.

13.03.18 – Fallen trees, overgrown areas and debris – Tree works and vegetation clearance completed for some areas but there are known reports of further obstructions so river users are to exercise extreme caution. Click here to read updated notice.

13.03.18 – Boxted Mill Fallen Tree – Report of fallen trees approximately 500m downstream, fallen from river left but blocking the channel  Click here to read the notice.

21.09.17 – Langham Upstream Portage Closure – Issued 21.09.17 and advises that the upstream portage is in need of repair. Click here to read the full notice.

21.09.16 – Pitmire Weir Portage Closure – River users are advised that the portage at Pitmire Weir is closed as of 21.09.16 until further notice due to required maintenance work. Click here to read the notice.
