  • Stour Lighter Restoration

The River Stour Trust, working together with the Managing a Masterpiece team, contracted the Pioneer Sailing Trust to restore the John Constable Lighter to its former glory. When restored it will once again be used on the River Stour. Click here to find out more.

  • Cattawade Picnic Site

The River Stour Trust Council agreed at its January 2012 meeting to enter into negotiation with Suffolk County Council with a view to taking on the freehold of the Cattawade picnic site and to take over responsibility for its upkeep. It is anticipated that the site will be transferred to the River Stour Trust in late March 2012.

In agreeing to take this project on the RST is helping to ensure that this vital access point to the river is preserved for future generations. We will be relying heavily on volunteer ‘wardens’ and helpers to manage this site and any offer of support is very much appreciated. We would also welcome suggestions for improvement to the site. • John Osborne

We were very saddened by the news that one of our Vice Presidents and long term supporters, Mr John Osborne, passed away on 24th December 2011. One of our Vice Presidents, David Rayner, has written a tribute and you can click here to read it.
