River Trips from Sudbury
- River trips operate from Easter to October, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays and
also on wenesdays during the school summer holidays.
- The Trust operates
three boats on this
stretch of the river: Rosette, Francis J and Elsie
Mary.
- All boats are based at the Granary in Quay Lane Sudbury, Suffolk (where there is
ample free parking available) and cruise through the picturesque water meadows
of the River Stour. There are a number of
different trips are available as described in the tables below.
- The launches are skippered by friendly, experienced, qualified volunteer crews.
Rosette is an elegant Edwardian style electric pollution-free launch
with a traditional canopy yet enjoying the advantage of modern technology.
Rosette can carry up to 8 adults with two crew.
Francis J is a specially adapted, pontoon-style boat, driven by an outboard engine,
and can carry up to 8 passengers, including those with impaired mobility and
wheelchair users. The boat is on loan to the River Stour Trust from Vice-President and
former Chairman, Francis Batten.
-
Elsie Mary is similar to Rosette, privately owned by Jeff
Burroughs and Tracy Alen this beautiful launch is made available to the Trust on
an income sharing basis. She has a different layout from Rosette with the
Helm position at the bow and the motor placed centrally in the cabin because of
this she is restricted to just 6 passengers with her 2 crew. Elsie Mary can
usually be
found at The Boathouse on Sundays carrying dinner cruise passengers in our joint
venture with this restaurant.
- She, like all our boats is available for
private charter subject to existing bookings and commitments.
